CPRE Wiltshire
Best Kept Village Competition 2024
Stapleford
Once off the main road the village of Stapleford is more a traditional English village with houses mostly along the sides of the lanes and all with attractive and well maintained gardens, the map produced marked the 6 main sites of interest all of which we found.
The village benefits from having a garage and Spar shop on the main road and also the Pelican Inn all of which seemed to be well supported by passing traffic, this area was clean and litter free which was excellent.
We loved the very small library found on the side of the road, and hope that this facility is well used and enjoyed by the residents.
The sports field and adjoining play park were well cared for and obviously well used and attractively situated, a great area for village gatherings.
The area around the church is lovely and full of flowers and we appreciated that this is left so for rewilding. The roses were lovely in the Memorial Garden. The car park was clean and we particularly liked the attractive hand painted village sign.
The village hall and the area around this well cared for and clean and good to learn that this is used regularly by various groups and for fund raising events which help to promote a friendly and inclusive village atmosphere.
Bus shelters were all clean and tidy and the notice boards all up to date, as in many villages nowadays much information is available on village WhatsApp groups so not available to us.
The Parish Council website is up to date with maps of the parish and village and details of meetings.
A lovely friendly village well maintained and obviously appreciated by the residents.
